Feeling a bit at a loss, confused, emotional, and wanting to do something for Shinji, Kaworu sits at Shinji’s bedside for hours on end. Because that’s what the Lilin on television did, even though he doesn’t understand why.

As he waits for Shinji to awaken, his hand would eventually find his way into Shinji’s. He wonders over the emotions that boil in his chest. That tepid, sickly feeling of worry for someone, fearing so deeply for a life other than your own, the feeling of protectiveness, possessiveness…. is this really what it means to care? To love?
